Honor Snack and Drink Vending

No matter the economic conditions or current market trends, there is one business that can ensure that the amount you make is always larger than what you will spend. Honor snack and drink vending systems are a direct link to profit, with an initial investment of less than $500.

An honor snack and drink vending tray is generally a small cardboard or plastic box that allows customers to choose whatever they'd like and pay voluntarily for what they have selected by putting their money in an attached cash box. Indeed, this is run on the honor system and relies on the good nature of people to pay for the product. It is, of course, possible for a person to simply take everything and not pay a cent. In fact, they could take the cash box with them, too. However, when well managed, these trays can be exceptionally profitable despite the risk.

On average, for every dollar spent every month, another dollar will be made. This means that if you were to invest $3000 in your first month, for example, you'll make about that much in return within those opening thirty days. What's more, you will continue to make that equivalent amount with every month that follows. Even if you invest only the minimum, you will still enjoy a comparable amount in earnings every month.

Furthermore, this compensation of one dollar for every dollar you spend is accomplished through only three to five hours of work every week, serving only twenty five trays every other week (or half each week if you'd rather divide the work). Then, as you get used to the process and find that you're ready to expand and make a greater profit in the process, you can easily do so. There are places where you will find great profit and places that you should not use at all. It's all in the knowing.

Depending on how fast you work and the distance between the locations, you should require between five and ten hours every month to service an initial series of twenty five trays. This can be spread out as you'd like to make it as convenient for yourself as possible, keeping in mind that all trays should usually be serviced at least twice per month. As you get to know the sales patterns at each of your locations, you can better gauge how frequently each individual location will need to be serviced. For example, if you discover that one of your locations sells only 15 snacks every week out of a total 100 when the tray is full, then you won't really need to fill it until four weeks have passed. Similarly, if a tray sells eighty every week, you'll need to refill it on a weekly basis.

The key to the success of these honor snack and drink vending trays is that they allow you to offer snacks as you would with vending machines, but you keep your equipment costs very low. Unlike the machines - which can be much more costly, but do have their own strengths as well - they allow people to select the specific item they want, as well as make their own change from the coin box. The simplicity of it makes it far superior to a poorly designed machine which has restricted payment options or poor selection. Furthermore, honor snack and drink trays can fit in many locations, whereas vending machines require a great deal more space and an electrical socket to power them (though drink vending trays will require a socket for a mini refrigerator).

For an honor snack and drink vending business, you will need only the following supplies:

    - 25 honor snack and drink vending trays (including coin box and dividers)
    - 25 labels for the snack trays
    - 5 tray stands for the honor snack and vending trays that must stand on their own because they do not have an available counter-top space.
    - 100 liners for the trays
    - 25 mountable business card holders that attach to the trays
    - 60 various "talk cards" to promote consumer honesty
    - 1 set of blueprints for a packing system
    - Starting inventory that consists of about 1250 snack and drink items
    - Mini refrigerators for drink vending trays
Within a very short distance of your home there are likely hundreds of different small businesses where snack trays will be well suited and profitable for you. Small businesses are typically overlooked, meaning that the competition will be exceptionally low.

This being said, your main concern is likely shrinkage - that is, theft of product. Fortunately, there is a great deal that you can do in order to compensate for those people who don't use the honor system very honorably. The secret is in selecting the ideal location. Of course, you can never expect for shrinkage not to occur at all. However, you can keep it to a very manageable minimum. Take great care in selecting your location to ensure that your average shrinkage rate is in around twenty percent.

The first thing you need to know is that you will want to avoid a place with public access. The more there are chances that groups will be able to simply pass by the tray and grab what they want, the higher your shrinkage rate will be. Instead, avoid public access and aim for locations that will offer exposure to individuals and small groups. For example, you may wish to place your honor snack and drink tray in an office that has a small number of employees and no public access. That way, the employees will take responsibility for their own tray and will discourage theft on their own.

Even with some theft, though, your overhead costs will be so low that it won't make an enormous difference. Moreover, it's still cheaper to use the trays with a small amount of theft than it would be to try to invest in an actual vending machine.

To encourage people to remain honest when they take your products, you may also want to try "talker cards". These cards are attached to the tray and politely request that people respect the honesty policy of the honor snack and vending tray if they want to continue enjoying the benefit of having it available to them. It is surprising that a small note such as this will be enough to turn away many potential thieves, causing them to listen to their consciences; they'll either decide not to take anything, or actually pay for it instead. Even a simple statement such as "thank you for being honest" can often be enough.

Since most places are happy to have the snack and drink service available to them, there is typically no commission to be paid to the locations. Small businesses with thirty to fifty employees are usually very pleased to be able to offer their team members the added convenience and motivation.

To maximize the space and potential, many people find that they can place a drink vending tray inside a mini fridge and a snack vending tray on top of the appliance, giving the same people different options to buy within the same locations. This allows for more trays to be used in fewer locations, reducing travel time for servicing with a higher chance for profit in each place.

As you can see, this is a business that can easily be started and maintained within your spare time and yet can achieve sizeable profits nonetheless. As long as you do your homework for locations and maintain your trays well while monitoring their progress carefully, you could have a business that earns in a meaningful way in a very short period of time.
